Happy Dance!
I feel badly for the folks in the Florida Panhandle or elsewhere on the Gulf Coast who are going to take the brunt of Hurricane Ivan.
That being said - IT'S NOT HITTING US!!
TIME FOR THE HAPPY DANCE!!
I have several theories on why the Hurricane took a sudden and unexpected jog to the west:
- If it hit South Florida, we would likely have been forced out of flying to Chicago to see my family for Rosh Hashana. This would have angered Mama Pinz enough to put some serious fear into even the heartiest of hurricanes.
- In hurricane culture, it's no fun to smack around people who haven't recovered from the last one. If people are already without power, roofs and D batteries, what's the use in hitting?
- Our lead hurricane reporter, who hasn't had a day off in about a month, used his influence at the National Hurricane Center, which, we all know, controls where the hurricanes go.

If I were Ivan and I saw that animated Snoopy graphic, I'd be heading back your way.

If you were Florida and saw Ivan stop heading your way, you'd be dancing like Snoopy, fool.
